16/10/08 Minute of CDF promotion team (2nd meeting)
Venue: core P stop motion Room
Time: 11:00am -
Attendant: All present
I. Research on Animations:
Classification:
1. Find out their Goods and Bads
2. It is easy to handle? more touching?
3. Their effects to the clients
Comments on hand drawing style:
Feel easy to make, but it takes time to produce
Suggestion:
cut out animation: computer create the motion
Way to analyze:
think more
1. Is stop motion really not appeal to clients?
For example –“The chicken run”
Its not strange to clients and its attractive to others
2. analyze the detail of elements
no different between all kinds of animation to the client
What they need is to attract people, while they will continue to read to know more about the function
3. Think of the time, resource and human resource that we have, and try to choose a style that we can manage it.
So that we can have the efficient production
We will tell the client what to do, so we have to:
1. Prepare other example – to support the animation style that we have chosen
2. Define animation - capture stills
Tell clients that the animation is appeal to what kinds of audience, and why.
Find more back up for supporting so that the client is easy to accept
It is an animation that targets donors:
Some kinds of animation may not suitable for some cooperates’ image
what they will usually choose for their advertisement?
3. Try to find different ways to tell the story
develop more. eg. The government ads
and find a clear way to bring out the message
4. try to find some ads with similar target audience. Eg. Obis
5. Try to identify the message receivers, and narrow the range of it.
PS: Things to add to the minutes
Objectives: who is our target audience?!
General public? Working class? White collar?
What will be appeal to the client?
What message can catch their attention?
II. Research on characters
No relation to the animation reference
There are too many things…hard to give direction and for client to digest
- show the related research of the certain style we want to do
Our animation is positive – how to portrait the character?
III. Questions for Saturday’s sharing:
Keep asking questions and try to dig in to the answer
what they want from their parents
what they play
IV. Others
1 minutes for the animation
Can it bring out the message, catch attention?
Tips for catching attenetion:
with relation to clients but makes them not sure what it is really about.
Try to find other way to promote the old ads
Recording Saturday’s sharing as footage of animation
others can know what it is about
the visual can be totally different
For the best case, the animation can appeal different stages of people
Donor and mentor form the same group/companies can be easier to handle
There may be different cases to deal with clients:
1. We have the direction to do the animation
while clients don’t know what to do
-sell it to the client
and tell why others are not suitable
(depends on our ability, favour, and its workability)
2. When clients prefer a certain style
try to tell him some disadvantage base on our limitation
suggest them what is the most suitable for this project
worry:
Our initial analysis is okay
N America-剪影
Japan- detail
if we have to sell them to an adult?
we have to tell clients why it works
To dos:
1. Clarify the role in each stage
Story – 1-2ppl
style – 1-2ppl
director for the final stage
graphic design – research on promotional package (pageone?)
eg: piggy bank, calendar
which company will make the products, and their quotation
character design – search for some reference ( and make colour scheme, colour tone, expression, rotation for char after the concept seveloped)
Sound – video with recording clips
Sam – keep following the project
animator – try to work for animatic when the concept had been developed
2. Responsibility Matrix – decision making (responsible person)
3. specific task list – to do list (refresh every week everyone on the blog)
producer - production manager
4. create blog labels – job nature(animation reference, analysis, promo items ex.)
5. a working schedule? (added by Gum)
To-do (after the story developed):
1. scene breakdown
Including scene no. description, character(in what view?), expression, Props, background, Fx (effects), responsible person, what is completed
*reuse material – less person is needed
To-dos before Tuesday:
1. concept - repackage it and ask for feedback
2. provide enough source – the most finished one
PS: try to make the project complete
3. confirm the client on return brief presentation time, venue
