18/10/08 Minute of CDF promotion team (4rd meeting)
Time: 11:00am – 12:30pm
Venue: HKPU Y706
Presents: All present
Activity:
Presentation on return brief
Feedback from client:
I. Story of the animation
The 3 concepts of the animation are okay
Skills required: No comment
Storyboard 1:
help others in return – this concept is good
Storyboard 2:
client has a little concept about it
Storyboard 3:
It can bring out their main concept
Try to emphasize that donor helps the children is good
Mentorship cannot be seen in this story
The client can see the contrast of the deprived family and the children’s dream
But can the audience get the message?
Can it be emphasized at the beginning of the animation?
How to round up the story?
Is there any meaning for the audience?
(client hopes that the audience will still think of the animation after watching)
How to apply such touching feeling at the end?
(Client prefer a conclusion of the story and feeling to only words at the end)
Maybe add some message for mentor at the end?
- There are many ways to help children
Add some Tung Chung features in the animation
How can it related to the promotion items?
II. Promotion items
Leaflet:
- The slogan can be turned into come symbolic things
- Planned to make different leaflets for children, mentors and donors
Diary:
- It’s okay for exchanging diary
- Good to turn their experience into written form as a gift to children
Leaflet package:
- fashionable, can have a further development on it
Recyclable shopping bag:
- people have too much of it already
(but if it’s an item in the package, which can help to promote the fund )
- How to integrate them?
Suggestion:
A calendar – different hands tell different feeling and story each month
III. Character
Prefer the style of ATASHIn'CHI family which has the human-like exaggerated character
Kat’s questions for client:
1. Storyboard 1 and 3 are similar, why do you prefer storyboard 3?
It includes the concept of the different of the children in deprived families
They use their own way to make their dream comes true
Story 1 cannot tell this. Everyone may need a mentor, but the most different is the life between the rich and the poor
Story 3 is lacking of elements about mentor. People seldom contact these families. They need chances and supports.
2. Will the organization provide materials for the project?
It will, if the amount is reasonable.
(discuss about whether it will over budget)
(Try to get the quotation of every single items)
Our questions for client:
1. Where will the posters put?
leaflet and easy hanger will be the key promotion items
A2 size is more preferable
There are not much space to put the poster
**client will tell what we have to put on the poster through e-mail soon
suggestion:
having a Taiwan style poster – put a touching story on the poster?
2. How many promotion items should we make?
About 300 for the target group
(maybe make a sample for 1-2 items for final outcome)
(we have to finish the posters and leaflets first)
Conclusion from client:
It’s okay to introduce animation to someone who don’t know much of it
She was impressed with the examples
for the proposal and ideas, it would be better to:
- tell client what is the core message we would like to bring out
- tell the analysis/summarization o the data after studying them – selling point is needed
- include the quotations (cost is important to the organization too)
Overall: good, efficient!
Next meeting with client: Next Tuesday (to be confirmed the time)
Feedback from Kat:
- Where is the result of the last interview (make a summary of it)
- Verbal presentation is not professional enough
- Videos can be played during presentation ( really convincing without a video?)
- Pictures can be added into some slides
- Hand drawing, stop motion (better show that its taken frame by frame (or show a hand)
- Don’t mix up pixilation and collage
- Don’t think ATASHIn'CHI family is a flash animation
(It can be called only flat 2D animation)
Ways to analyze reference:
- Japanese style 2D animation – with outline…
- Pros & cons
There are several subjective points from our analysis:
For collage, its attractive, colorful… (actually it depends)
There are many textures and different style of graphics ( pros)
There will be too much and distract audience (cons)
Give clients a conclusion clearly
Create mood board – it would be clear to visualize, for the direction
Promotion items:
possibility to make the bag
it can attract clients, but cannot be made?!
confirm the units and prices first
Suggestion:
quote everything which will be appeared in the bag one by one
find out its selling point by observing and analyzing
*propose the budget to client
making some software for the client eg: powerpoint template
for client to present the project to others
Storyboards:
story 3:
all wide shots?
it will be too small to animate
There should be more close-up for emphasizing the motion
for their dream, it can be presented in a more indirect way
story 2:
its really like a dream
Things to do before Thursday:
1. Visual style of the animation – try to make something out
2. Change and modify the storyboard (visual)
3. Quotations of each promotion items
4. Poster layout
5. A updated, modified powerpoint (summarization of client’s feedbacks)
