Minutues of 231008

23/10/08 Minute of CDF promotion team (5th meeting)

Time: 11:00am – 12:00pm
Venue: HKPU P102
Absentee: Kitty

Storyboard:

The children - different person at the beginning and at the end?
Their face and outlook should be the same
The content can be more abstract
we should use thumbnails to present to client

Q&A of the story (Q=Kat):

Q: Why the dining room at the beginning?
A: (want to show the living environmenta000)

Q: what u want ti bring
A: (not much thing - poor, lonely)

Q: how to show she is alone
A: (no parent)

Q: how to show its feel of lonely by the environment in a relatively positive way?
A: (by the children’s drawing? - they always play alone)

Suggestions from Kat:
Van Gogh – his work has the feeling of lonely
eg. no person sitting on the chair
**something is missing

- pan shot would be a problem
things should be ready in a relatively large scale for the camera
- too much shot on searching toy
- what does she search to represent violin, and why
- when do you want to show audience that the girl is trying to perform a show
- the dolls…really use dolls to be the audience?
- how much toy she has…and what kind? for a poor family
- audience understand she is playing violin?
- when will be a virtual world? try to make it clear to the audience
- focus on the imagination

- the room is too big
- further develop…bring out the story is happening in tung chung

suggestion:
- Start from setting up of the stage/searching toys to be the violin?
- Develop more steps in her development
- The key point of the story is her dream

at the end
mentor and donor (audience) can take part in the project
no need to state out which is donor (maybe no need to be so clearly stated)
only show someone is helping is enough
Its her memory at the beginning? A dream at last? which one is real?

donor can be here to help…not only as an audience of the animation…

post the modified one on blog – before Saturday (Kat will give comment)
- to have a polished style and story for the clients on Tuesday

Character
too rich
- portrait the children in Hong Kong
- find out more characteristics
- have the observation at the housing estate

The outlook has to be developed
give her some characteristics – related to the project (image)
eg. the outline…hairstyle…
can catch the char. by only the shape
there is hole on the clothes…
(make some funny and attractive point) …

think of more motion
(will it work?)
try how it interact with the props

more develop in her pose, facial expression…
when choosing something which can represent the violin…
and imagine her face when searching, performing….etc
(with the 3 characters that Kat chose)

Background
it works
- but the scale has to be changed- not much problem
- color of props have to be related and match
- mix with some hand drawing
- match the color
-try to separate the layers in aftereffect
-try to make bg in AE
-find out what it really needs and what to be noticed
-modify background
-try to make backgrounds with contrast (not the same style)
Eg background with same tone, colorful (complementary colors…etc)
-search for some interior of housing estates and take photos
-add some minor things into it
-make the background more interesting…

Poster layout
idea of having a series is good
change the girls’ dream…
no need to stuck with one dream
style of collage may have the resolution problem when enlarge it on posters

meaning:
LITTLE BIT
“a little out from u, a bit return for them”

-“little much” – by kat
larger contrast
-add in visual elements too
let client has a clear concept
-think of the grid too
-put more concept in the layout – for the contrast

challenge:
the photos – avoid using them
rasterizing image – only vector image can be shown? can it?

quotations

bags, hand band (with USB), diary,
can be proposed – USB
put the animation in the USB!
calendar print on the cover (diary)
A4 bags are not really useful
still quote for it
for promotion – they will use more is its larger
-try to get some samples and make the list
-try to think of the package
-how can they use the items

scan, crop the notes taken…record what we have done!
and make reference!
put all of them on the blog

POST ALL THE THINGS ON THE BLOG BEFORE SATURDAY!
